100 BLOCK OF COLUMBUS STREET
BAKERSFIELD
11/17/23 8:01 AM

On November 17th, 2023, at approximately 8:01 AM, Bakersfield Police Department officers were dispatched to Our Lady of Perpetual Help (OLPH) in the 100 block of Columbus Street regarding a bomb threat. Officers discovered OLPH staff received the threat via email, and it was sent to approximately 500 email addresses. At approximately 8:16 AM, Garces Memorial High School contacted the Bakersfield Police Department and reported they also received the same email. Officers did not discover any explosives at the schools or evidence to validate the threat. Some of the other recipient email addresses were for schools in the Kern County area and areas throughout California. The Federal Bureau of Investigations Joint Terrorism Task Force was contacted and notified of the threats. At this point the email appears to be a hoax intended to cause disruption to daily life. Anyone with information regarding this case is encouraged to call the Bakersfield Police Department at (661) 327-7111. View Source
