IMPD crash investigators arrested 22-year-old Danny Wimbleduff for allegedly fleeing the scene of a crash that killed 4-year-old Alan Marcelo Salas-Garcia and critically injured two adults. On Wednesday, May 7, 2025, just after 9:00 p.m., IMPD Southeast District officers responded to S. State Avenue and E. Raymond Street on a report of a personal injury accident. Officers arrived and located a crash involving two vehicles and a bicyclist pulling a bike trailer. Indianapolis Emergency Services (IEMS) arrived, and the child was unfortunately pronounced deceased at the scene. One adult female and one adult male were transported to local hospitals in critical condition. Officers on scene spoke to several cooperative witnesses and learned the driver of the striking vehicle, a Dodge Charger, had fled the area on foot. Several officers canvassed the area, but despite support from drone technology and K9 officers, the suspect was not found. IMPD crash investigators arrived and continued the investigation. After speaking to several witnesses, viewing available video footage, and examining evidence at the scene, investigators identified Wimbleduff as the suspect who fled. On Tuesday, May 13th, detectives with the IMPD Violent Crimes Unit (VCU) took Wimbleduff into custody. Wimbleduff was arrested for reckless homicide, leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, leaving the scene of an accident involving catastrophic injuries, and leaving the scene of an accident involving serious bodily injury. “I am heartbroken by the loss of Alan Marcelo Salas-Garcia, and my deepest sympathies go out to his family, friends, and all who loved him. No arrest can bring back a life so tragically cut short, and I know this is far from closure. But I hope this step brings some measure of comfort, knowing the individual responsible is no longer freely walking our streets,” said Chief Chris Bailey. “I want to thank the dedicated officers and detectives who worked day and night to identify this individual and bring him into custody,” he added. “My thoughts remain with the other two victims and their families, whose lives have also been forever changed by this tragic incident.” The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office (MCPO) will make the final charging decision. An arrest and a charge are merely accusations, and Wimbleduff should be considered innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law. IP250039367 View Source
