Fire destroyed a vacant building in the 500 block of Buckbee Street around 3 a.m. Tuesday; Rockford firefighters responded to heavy flames coming from the front and roof and brought the fire under control within 15 minutes; the building was deemed a total loss and demolished on scene, with estimated loss of $100,000; no injuries reported; cause of the fire is under investigation.
